What are GMOs?
GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organism. This can be anything from a cow whose genes have been mutated to grow larger in order to produce more beef, or a tomato plant whose DNA has been modified to resist a certain type of parasitic insect. GM foods have had desired genes from other organisms inserted into their DNA to create a new “breed” of plant or animal. Why are we doing this? Simply because it's easier.
